Group Head
Dr Musaid P P a Project Scientist-C in our group. He is specialising in inversion modelling as part of the Development of Skilled Manpower in Earth System Sciences (DESK) program.

He completed his Ph.D. research on the Asian Summer Monsoon Anticyclone (ASMA) at SRM Institute of Science and Technology and is awaiting his viva voce. He holds an M.Sc. in Atmospheric Science from the Central University of Rajasthan. His primary research interests focus on large-scale circulations, atmospheric trace gas transport, and the dynamics of the Asian monsoon.
Musaid’s research experience includes expertise in WRF and Lagrangian modelling frameworks. He developed a novel method for identifying the ASMA extent and was the first to thermodynamically characterise it. His early research, including studying the impact of West Pacific typhoons on the 2018 Kerala flood, led to a publication in Climate Dynamics. He also worked as a Research Associate on a weather modification project for a year.

During his Ph.D., Musaid published two first-author papers and contributed to four others in peer-reviewed journals. He trained under the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), supported by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India, and spent a research term as a visiting student at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
